Privacy Policy

What we collect

InspectDev stores your preferences (theme, toolbar layout, saved color palettes, tool settings) and license/trial status locally in your browser's chrome.storage. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. The extension itself does not collect browsing history, page content, analytics, or any personally identifiable information. The inspectdev.app website uses analytics — see the next section.

Website analytics

When you visit inspectdev.app, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. This collects:

• Pages visited, referring website, browser and device type, and anonymized location data (country or city level, derived from IP — Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses).
• Interaction data such as clicks, scrolls, and session duration.

This data helps us improve the site, prioritize features, and fix bugs. Google Analytics does not receive any personally identifiable information. You can opt out by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-On or by enabling Do Not Track in your browser settings.

License validation

When you activate a Pro license key, InspectDev sends the license key to the Dodo Payments API to validate it and register your device. Only the license key and a fixed device label are sent — no name, email, or other personal data leaves your browser during this process.

How the extension's permissions are used

Every permission InspectDev requests exists to run its tools locally, on the page you're inspecting:

• Host access (all sites) — lets the toolbar and its tools read and, when you ask, edit the DOM/CSS of the page you're currently viewing. This access is never used to collect or transmit page content off your device.
• Cookies — powers the Cookie Editor tool, which reads and edits cookies for the site you're inspecting, only when you open that tool.
• Active tab — grants temporary access to the current tab when you invoke the toolbar, so tools can act on the page you're looking at.
• Storage — saves your settings and license status locally, as described above.
• Alarms — schedules periodic local checks of your license/trial status.
• Side panel & background — used to display tool output and coordinate the toolbar's UI; neither collects data.

Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. The only data that ever leaves your device from the extension is the license key sent to Dodo Payments (our payment and licensing processor) solely to validate your purchase.

The inspectdev.app website sends anonymized usage data toGoogle Analytics(our website analytics provider) as described in the Website Analytics section above.

Children's privacy

InspectDev is a developer/designer tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
